Toddler Story Time: Picture Book Month

November is National Picture Book Month!
Picture books are still some of my most favorite pieces of literature to read! They can touch your heart, make you laugh, make you cry, and are SO MUCH FUN to read out loud!

Here are the titles I read today for Toddler Story Time:
Chu's day Chu's Day by Neil Gaiman

I want my hat back I want my hat back by Jon Klassen

That is not a good idea! That is NOT a good idea! by Mo Willems

Duck! Rabbit! Duck! Rabbit! by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld

Swim! Swim! / by Lerch. Swim! Swim! by Lerch

This is not my hat This is not my hat by Jon Klassen

I had so much fun reading today!
If you need help finding more great books to read with your kids, check out the School Library Journal list of Best Books 2012 and then come to MWE next week for Mrs. Lewis' picks!
Until then, keep reading!

Toddler Story Time: Books

I LOVE BOOKS!!! (Just in case you didn't already know.) So, today's story time was all about books about books...
First we had to be ready for reading, so we "unplugged" with Doug Unplugged by Dan Yaccarrino. Doug is a robot who discovers that you can learn through a computer, but you learn even more when you experience things! We continued to unwind together by singing "Where is Thumbkin?" with Miss Nina. Then we read A book by by Mordicai Gorstein about a family that lives in books, and the little girl who wants to find her own story.   Next we read We are in a book! by Mo Willems. Remember, Elephant and Piggie want you to read their story again! After that, we watched an ebook version of There's a Monster at the End of this Book  with Grover as our narrator! I loved the sound effects in the telling of the book, too. In manyof the books I loved how the characters actually talked to us!  That was fun!  We closed up story time with our "Good Bye Song" from "Out of the Box." Next week is our final week for Story Time, as our school year is coming to an end. We hope to have many new MW parents attending before their grand tour as incoming families.

To answer, "What are some good books for my child to read?"

This Essential Books for Kids and Teens of books for children of all ages, compiled by Common Sense media, is so good I just had to share it with all of our wonderful MWE parents! Keep those kiddos reading and enjoyng the use of their imagination through encouraging them to read any of these titles!
